One arrested with pistol
The Ramamurthy Nagar police have arrested one person and have recovered a .32 caliber automatic pistol worth of Rs 1 lakh from him on Saturday night.
Police said, Lakshman (28) of Coorg, had bought the pistol from notorious Vishal Sharma gang. In May this year, six men of the gang were arrested by Ramamurthynagar police.
“Vishal Sharma’s gang was involved in a dacoity in Madikeri in November, 2009 and some local miscreants were part of the offence. Lakshman managed to buy the pistol from one mediator who had accompanied the gang in that particular robbery. We got to know that Lakshman was in the City searching for a job”, police added. Vishal Sharma, head of the notorious gang and a native of Madhya Pradesh is absconding, the police said.
BIA staffer dies in mishap
An employee of the Bangalore International Airport died after being hit by a KSRTC bus near Hebbal bus stop on Sunday morning.
K T Bharath (28), a resident of Byatarayanapura, was on his way towards Bangalore City riding pillion along with his friend Kusha when the KSRTC rammed into their bike from behind, killing Bharath on the spot. Rider Kusha has sustained minor injuries. The bus driver has been arrested, police said.
Chain snatched
Jayamma (70) from Jnanajyothinagar near Jnanabharathi was robbed of her gold chain on Sunday morning. The police said, two persons followed her on bike while she was returning home after a morning walk and snatched her chain.
