Development works, Arogya Kavacha services launched in Kolar Gold Fields

Speaking after launching development works taken up at a cost of Rs 6 crore in the city on Sunday, he said that the Kolar Gold Fields City Municipality will receive a sum of Rs 35 crore over the next two years.

'
“The BJP government has taken up the ambitious task of empowering local bodies. The officers in-charge of execution of the works and the contractors carrying out the projects should lay more emphasis on maintaining quality. The public at large should keep a vigil on the quality of the works being carried out,” the minister said.

Hospital upgradation

Krishnaiah Setty said that the government has earmarked a sum of Rs one crore for upgrading the BGML hospital in the city. However, the plan could not be given effect to as the Union government has been dillydallying to handover the hospital to the State government. Admitting that the City is facing acute water scarcity, the minister said that the he and the local legislator were ready to provide the necessary funds to find a solution to the long-standing  problem. He asked the officers of Water Supply Board and the City Municipality to complement the efforts.

Legislator Y Sampangi, who presided over the function divulged that the government has formulated plans worth over Rs 60 crore for the comprehensive development of Kolar Gold Fields. Funds for improving road, infrastructure in 35 wards of the Municipality will be released soon.

Ambitiouns plans

A sum of Rs 8.80 crore assistance under State Finance Commissionplan, Rs 21 crore under KMRP, Rs 16 crore under DMA project, Rs 15 crore under the package for development of city and town municipalities are at the final stage of clearance. It has also been planned to construct 253 toilets in the city.

The funds are expected to be released in the next 4-5 months and with the implementation of all the projects, Kolar Gold Fields is set to be a model city in the coming five years, legislatgor Sampangi revealed

Ambulances

 Six ambulances have been provided to the General Hospital in the city for emergency medical services under Arogya Kavacha scheme.

Dedicating the vehicles for public use at a function organised in the Government Hospital premises, district in-charge minister S N Krishnaiah Setty said that four more ambulances would be provided in the near future with a view to ensure medical facilities to the rural populace.

The services of the Arogya Kavacha scheme could be availed by dialing 108 during medical emergencies like cardiac arrest, mishaps, child births etc.

He called upon people to make use of the facilities. The minister said that the state government headed by B S Yeddyurappa has formulated several schemes for the welfare of the poor and the down-rodden.

Legislator Y Sampangi, who spoke on the occasion advised the doctors to cultivate service mentality by attending to patients without demanding any money.

District Medical Officer Ramesh, Kolar Gold Fields  medical officer Dr Shivaram, tahsildar Dakshayini, City Municipal Council president M Bhaktavatsalam, vice-president Sangeethakumari and others were present.

Urban Development Authority president M Munirathnam Naidu, tahsildar Dakshayini and others were present on the occasion.
