Phase I of sea-erosion check works to complete by 2012: Palemar

Minister visits sea erosion affected areas in Sasihithlu

Speaking after visiting the sea erosion affected areas at Sasihithlu in Surathkal on Sunday, he said the first phase of the project to check sea erosion will complete in 2012. The second phase will be completed in 2014 and the project will be completed in 2018.

Toll fee

Flaying the Centre’s move to collecet toll fee on NH 17, he said “the State government will write a letter to the Centre opposing the move. We are ready to fight in the State-level.”
He said that he had directed the Deputy Commissioner to initiate action against iron ore laden lorries which ply on National Highway in spite of the ban.

The DC’s decision on widening road at Chikkabettu Surathkal is final. Survey will be conducted as per the map. The State government had released funds for the development of roads in the district. The state government will also sanction additional staff and other facilities for the Mangalore Police Commissionerate.

Mayor Rajani Dugganna, Corporators Tilakraj, Revathi and others were present on the occasion.

Palemar to file case against media over sand issue

Referring to media reports on illegal storage of sand in a City college, Palemar said: “Some media had been projecting that I was involved in illegal storing of sand. However, the allegation is far from truth. The contractors had stored the sand in the college premises for the construction purpose.” “I have decided to file a defamation case for Rs 2 crore and Rs 3 crore against the media concerned. I have already asked my lawyer to pay a sum of Rs 20 lakh stamp fee to the court in this regard. If the allegations against me is proved, I am ready to quit politics,” he added.
