The AMC has carried out illegal mining in the area which was leased to Black Gold Company of Bellary, even after the mining licence of the latter expired in 1992, Kumaraswamy told a press conference here.

AMC in its Income Tax returns had clearly mentioned it was involved in mining activity, Kumaraswamy said, rebutting Janardhana's claim that their mining activity was not in Karnataka and confined to Andhra Pradesh.

He said he would submit these documents to Lokayukta, which has been entrusted with the investigation into illegal mining and illegal iron ore exports, besides Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa.

Kumarswamy refuted the charge by Janardhana that he had favoured BSK Trading Corporation owned by his brothers when he was the chief minister.
"If anyone proves that I have favoured BSK Trading Corporation when I was the chief minister, I will retire from politics," he said.

Kumaraswamy was the chief minister of Karnataka, heading the JDS-BJP coalition government for 20 months during 2006-07.
He said his party would convene a meeting of writers, intellectuals and environmentalists on August 1 to seek their guidance in fighting against illegal mining.
