Experts to debate on smart cities

Bangalore, July 23, DHNS:

Acatech — German Academy of Science & Engineering, on Friday, announced ‘Smart Cities’ as topic for upcoming sessions of its first international project — 'German Indian Partnership for IT Systems (GRIP-IT), launched in April this year.

Briefing reporters, Acatech President & SAP AG former CEO Henning Kagermann said GRIP-IT will be bringing German and Indian partners together from fields of academics and industry to discuss ways and means to incorporate advanced technology solutions to enhance efficient urban infrastructure. A host of workshops and symposia would be held across India, where leaders from business and research institutes would interact with one another and discuss their findings.

ABB, Wipro, and TCS are among industry partners, along with professors from German academia and Indian Institute of Technology who would share their expertise. The idea is to develop and improve cities, with use of Information Communication Technology (ICT) and act as catalyst for future reseach. It will include an innovation benchmark study comparing innovation ecosystems of the two countries.
