Police recover jewellery and vehicles worth 4.25 crore
98 cases have been solved in June alone
The South East Division police zeroed in on 26 persons over the last few months in connection with different crimes and recovered stolen materials, including jewellery and vehicles, worth more than Rs 4.28 crore.
The police detected 73 cases and recovered stolen goods worth Rs 1.23 crore in May, solved 98 cases and made
recoveries worth Rs 1.90 crore in June and recovered articles worth Rs 1.09 crore by solving 53 cases in July, said DCP (South East) B N S Reddy.
16 vehicles recovered
The police arrested five persons and recovered 16 vehicles, including bikes, cars and goods vehicles worth Rs 62 lakh. The accused are Narasimha (22) from Sunkadakatte, Balraj (30), Gopalakrishna (19), V Srinivas (20), all from M Cherlapalli village in Bagepalli taluk and A Palaraju (52) from Rajapalyam town in Tamil Nadu. Palaraju had stolen eight expensive cars with his associates in different areas in the City.
They changed name plates and chassis numbers and had sold them in Madurai, Melur, Tiruchangudu, Kasargodu and Nellur.
Eight held for thefts
The Madivala police nabbed eight persons in separate theft cases and recovered jewellery and other valuables worth Rs 21 lakh.
They are Thomas (22) and Raju (20) from Someshwarnagar, Sundaram (51) from Gandhinagar in Tiruchi district, Mohammad Hussein (28) from Tiruchi, Mani (28), Shashikumar (19), both from Devarabisanahalli and Vinod Kumar (20) and Sunil (19) both from Venkatapura. Vinod Kumar and Sunil, both factory workers, had struck at their owner’s house and had fled with jewellery and diamond ornaments.
Chain snatchers held
The police zeroed in on 10 chain snatchers, including two inter-state chain snatchers and recovered gold chains worth Rs 12.1 lakh.
The arrested are Rizwan, Riyaz Khan, Mohammad Hussein and Asgar, all from Koramangala, Pandiyan from Maruthinagar, Ansar from Gurappanapalya, Samiulla from B G Road, Suhel from Ejipura and Harish Kumar and Yasin both from Delhi. Harish and Yasin used to visit to Bangalore to buy second hand bikes for chain snatching.
They would park the two-wheelers in bus stands or railway station or any other public place before going to Delhi to sell the chains.
Three held for cheating:
The Shankarpuram police arrested three persons for cheating public and recovered four kilograms of fake gold chains. Sham Kumar (27) from KRS in Mandya district, Mehboob Pasha (22) from Gauribidnur and Ravi (40) from Koratagere were arrested. They would lure citizens to purchase fake jewellery claiming they belonged to Tipu Sultan and Mysore Maharajas.
