'C'magalur gets Rs 25 cr from NABARD'

He was speaking after the inauguration of Hasiru Habba programme organised by NABARD - Bhoomi Susthira Abhivriddhi Samsthe in association with Vedavathi Watershed Development Committee and Sri Mallikarjuna Raitha Koota Agrahara held at Chowdeshwari Samudaya Bhavana in Chatnapapallya of Kadur taluk.  

“Many historical rulers including Samrat Ashok had exhibited their concern towards environment by planting saplings across their kingdom. We have a living example of Salumara Thimmakka who has largely contributed to the same cause. Having them as models, let each of us plant and look after atleast 10 saplings a year and thereby bring awareness for our next generation,” he said.

He also informed that NABARD is involved in environmental protection by working in association with 30 watershed development boards.

Bhoomi Susthira Abhivruddhi Yojane Director K Ravi in his address informed that in spite of the people profiteering from land have not returned back anything for its preservation. So with the objective to bring back the greenery, Hasiru Habba has been organised which has intended to plant saplings in farm lands and road sides. “We have to celebrate Hasiru Habba every year just like the way we celebrate other festivals,” he insisted. 

Taluk Panchayat member N H Mohan and Anna Naik requested the gathering to develop the villages by utilising the facilities provided by Bhoomi Samsthe.

Nagenahalli Gram Panchayat President Mahesh presided the function. NABARD Hasan’s WDF advicor Harsha and Bhoomi Susthira Abhivriddhi Samsthe Managing Director Jaya Prasad Ballekere explained the various activities carried under the institution.
