It was an evening of high fashion attended by some of the best in the industry. The winners of the Splash Supermodel Search 2010 were announced with a lot of style at the event held recently.

The supermodel hunt was aimed at recognising the raw talent in aspiring youngsters of the country and grooming them into poised and confident models at par with their international counterparts.

The evening saw 20 new faces, which included 10 men and 10 women, who were handpicked and shortlisted from thousands of applicants. They had also gone through a rigorous training of eight weeks before facing the audience and the judges.

The show started with a foot-thumping dance performance by the contestants who were dressed in black and white. This was followed by an introductory round, where each of them described their influences in the modelling industry and their goals for the future.

The stage was oozing with glamour, which made the decision very tough for the judges. “I only had one session with these boys and girls but today, I can’t recognise them on stage. They all look so confident and well-poised and will surely do well in the industry,” said Priya Mani, who was one of the judges for the event.

But finally it was the moment of the truth. Dayana Erappa and Karan Medappa clinched the top title and would be soon seen on the ramps of Dubai. Other winners of the evening were Mitali and Adarsh, who were adjudged the Fresh Faces of the contest.

Tanvi and Kamal walked away with the ‘Runway Star’ award and Radhika and Sanjeev were announced as the most photogenic among the lot. This was followed up by a dramatic fashion show by the models featuring the new collection of the brand.

Consisting of lively colour, vivid patterns and truly world class styles, the collection
lifted the glamour quotient of the models by several notches. Mainly sticking to the gangster and ski-look, the clothes consisted of light military-coloured jackets, camel colour tights and saw the use of a lot of silver and gold.

While the men sported a sophisticated winter look with stoles, light sweaters and woolen hats, the women went retro. They were seen wearing clothes that featured gold prints, bright gold bangles, silver jackets and tights. Electric blue was also a colour that got a lot of attention and was used on jackets and skirts.

All in all, it was about bad boys and girls, and every model played the part to the hilt. The show came to an end with everyone high on style and the winners celebrating their victory.
