Sanatan Sanstha member arrested in Goa blast case

Mumbai, Aug 2, PTI:

An absconding member of right-wing Hindu organisation Sanatan Sanstha has been arrested for his alleged role in the 2009 Goa blast case, Maharashtra ATS today said.

Prashant Juvekar, absconding since October 16 last year, was arrested from near Bhusawal railway station in Jalgaon district on July 31, state ATS chief Rakesh Maria said. Juvekar was produced before a Nashik court which remanded him in police custody till August 3.

The 24-year-old was one of the four absconding accused, Maria said, adding Juvekar was a prime conspirator and played a key role in executing the blast.

The blast, which had claimed two lives, occurred on Diwali-eve on October 16 in a busy thoroughfare in Margao, barely a few hundred metres from a place where Chief Minister Digamber Kamat was participating in some celebrations.

The National Investigating Agency, which has been probing the blast case, had filed charge sheet in the case in May and arrested five persons associated with the Sanathan Sanstha, he said.
