This takes the total number of people in quarantine to five. Of these, one has been shifted to a City-based private hospital.

RGICD director Dr Sashidhar Buggi told Deccan Herald that the throat swab samples of the two, one of whom is an Indian national, have been sent to the National Institute of Virology, Pune. The medical reports of six persons sent on Monday were received on Tuesday night. Out of these, five tested negative, while one is inconclusive.

“The patient whose report is inconclusive has been asked to give a fresh throat swab sample on Wednesday for a repeat test. The reports are expected on Thursday” said doctors at RGICD.

“The reports of the two persons quarantined on Tuesday are expected on Wednesday. This apart, we screened 21 persons on Tuesday. To be on the safe side we have sent throat swabs of 15 persons to NIV,” Buggi said.

According to doctors, of the total 23 people who were screened, 15 are men and 8 women. “Eight persons arrived from the United States. This indicates that a majority of the passengers who have arrived from the US show flu-like symptoms,” said an RGICD doctor.
Meanwhile, the RGICD received on Tuesday the post-treatment medical tests of a mother-daughter duo on Saturday. Both tested negative. They will remain in quarantine for 10 days.
