Gadgets worth 1.2 cr gutted in Shimoga
Gadgets worth Rs 1.2 crore were gutted in a fire in an electronic showroom in the wee hours on Wednesday. The fire was reportedly caused due to a short circuit.
The flames spread to the adjacent godowns due to which cotton and processed cashew stored there were destroyed.
The showroom, Vijaya agency, on B H Road was owned by Sridhar. The goods stored in the neighbouring Mahamaye cashew processing unit which belongs to Madhav Kamath and cotton yard owned by Rahim Pasha also were reduced to ashes.
Fire tenders were pressed for operation and the flames were doused. Regional Fire Officer Shiva Kumar told Deccan Herald that by the time fire tenders arrived, most of the equipment were burnt as there was a delay in alerting the fire brigade.
