She had an affair with Reddy, who was working in the guest house in of the apartments. She was staying at the house of Rajamma at Sarjapura.

Lakshmamma thought of striking wedding alliance between Reddy and Mallika, the daughter of Rajamma and continue her affair with Reddy later. But Mallika was engaged to Krishna Kumar (25), son of a mason at Ambedkarnagar, police said.

However, Lakshmamma introduced Reddy to Mallika.

Mallika’s refusal

After frequent meetings, Lakshmamma suggested Mallika to marry Reddy, but the former refused. Lakshmamma and Reddy thought Mallika would forget Krishna Kumar if they kill him and thus pave way for Reddy-Mallika wedding.

Reddy lured Krishna Kumar to come with him to Kolar on the pretext of getting him a job. They left for Kolar on July 12 on Krishna Kumar’s bike.
