It was a fun filled, memorable Sunday for the gathering as the Tulu tradition was unwrapped in various ways with all its uniqueness, may it be the sports, games, food or exhibitions, simply reflecting the Tuluva way of life. <br /><br />Kreedotsava witnessed 19 varieties of indoor and outdoor sports and games for men and women, for elders and children throughout the day. Some of the sport events like treasure hunt, tug of war, running race in the paddy field, retransplantation of seedlings captivated the attention of the crowd to the peak. Apart from it, the indoor contests like beedi rolling, Paddhana singing, Chenne mane too attracted the viewers. <br /><br />Inaugurating the programme, District-in-Charge Minister Krishna J Palemar appreciated Surathkal JCI for organising such a programme and thereby helping in preserving the tradition of Tulunadu. He also recommended the industrial tycoons of the district to show their concern towards nature and villages by planting saplings in a large scale. <br />“Agricultural department is always there as a backbone to the farmers and on the similar grounds, the department is handing over three power tillers to the progressive farmers of Surathkal and Mulki for subsidy rates,” he said. <br /><br />Department of Agriculture Joint Director A Padmayya Naik stressed on the need for educating the youth to develop in them an affection towards the rural life. “By informing the youth about farming, it would be possible to motivate at least few of the young men to take up agriculture as a profession,” he opined. <br /><br />Special exhibition by the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Horticulture, demonstration of ‘Akki Mudi’ preparation, cattle exhibition were some of the additional attractions of the event. Delicious and traditional Tulu nadu food items prepared under the theme ‘JC Aatida Thammana’ served the taste buds of the visitors. <br /><br />The fun and frolic that lasted throughout the day ended with the grand valedictory function which was held in the evening.
