<p>Speaking at a welcome ceremony organised by the Karnataka State Bar Council (KSBC) here on Monday, the Chief Justice said the mediation centre in the State functioning efficiently under Supreme Court judge Justice R V Ravindran should be made the best in the country.<br /><br />“We have the best mediation and conciliation centre here. Let us make use of the platform to dispose off the cases. We shall address oldest cases and most urgent matters first of all,” the Chief Justice said while describing Karnataka High Court as one of the premier courts in the country.<br /><br />Hailing that Karnatka’s Bar is one of the best, he said that he has been told that it is a wonderful and divided Bar. “It suits me fine as it is easy to administer. But today I beseech you to get united and join hands for not only your own interest, but also in the interest of this institution.”<br /><br />While thanking Justice N K Sodhi, former chief justice of Karnataka and Justice Saharia, former Chief Justice Justice, Punjab High Court he said that the duo had guided him in his career. Describing former Chief Justice M N Venkatachalaiah as a ‘Bhisham Pitamaha’ of Indian judiciary, he thanked him for his congratulatory message.<br /><br />In his welcome address, Jayakumar Patil, Chairman KSBC said that High Court has been in the news for one or the other wrong reason for the last one year. He assured of absolute cooperation to the Chief Justice in justice delivery.<br /><br />Bangalore Advocates’ Association president K N Puttegowda said there was no division in the Bar and all advocates will strive to uphold the dignity of the judiciary.</p>
