The plot, set entirely in the United Kingdom, a place the author is yet to visit, deals with a scientist creating new life which goes missing and a heroic adventure for a bunch of students.

Inspired by her mother and authors like Stephen Meyer, Harshita says the novel that took her one year, couldn’t have come about “without mum being around.”

Basavaraj R Magdum, her proud father, told Deccan Herald that his daughter started writing when she was all of nine years. Harshita gets lost in a “world that's not here,” while writing, he added.

“She forgets where she is and who is around when she gets her hands on paper and pen,” he said.

Besides the book, her father tells us that she is working on another one, this time she will let her mind create vampires.

“I love things like ghosts and vampire, things that science has no explanation for...” Harshita says. Further, even as she is basking in the glory of being one of the youngest writers around and is in talks with publishers like Penguin, HarperCollins,  Rupa and Sterling Publishers to publish the next edition of Ruby Rush, she says her ambition is not to become an author.

Yes, there might be a great freedom of imagination that writing fiction might provide one with, but Harshita wants to see the real stars – thereby, she dreams of being an astronaut.
