HD Kumaraswamy among Indian parliamentarians to attend classes at Yale
Washington, PTI:

A team of Indian parliamentarians led by Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi would be attending classes at America's prestigious Yale University from tomorrow on current global issues and leadership challenge.

Apart from Singhvi, Prakash Javadekar, BJP spokesman, along with H D Kumaraswamy, former Karnataka Chief Minister and son of the former Indian Prime Minister, H D Devegowda; and Naresh Gujral, son of the former Indian Prime Minister, Inder Kumar Gujral are another senior members of the delegation.
Most of the members of the delegation are the children of senior Indian politicians.
Other members of the delegation are: Jayant Chaudhary, son of Rashtriya Lok Dal leader, Ajit Singh; Shruti Choudhary, daughter of Kiran Choudhary, the Haryana Tourism Minister; Priya Dutt, daughter of late Sunil Dutt; Mohammad Hamdullah Sayeed, son of the former Union Power Minister, P M Sayeed; and Anurag Singh, son of the Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister, Prem Kumar Dhumal.
Mausam Noor, the Congress MP from Malda, is a close relative of the former Congress leader from West Bengal, A B A Ghani Khan Choudhary; while Ijyaraj Singh, the Congress MP from Kota comes from a royal family in Rajasthan.

They will receive briefings on foreign policy issues from scholars and advisers of the Brookings Institution, the Council on Foreign Relations, and the American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research.

After attending classes at Yale, the MP's would come to Washington to hold discussions on Indio-US bilateral issues with senior US government officials from the US Departments of Defence, Energy, Treasury.
Mp's will also meet the members of US senate.
Yale University -- widely recognised for educating leaders in government, business, and civil society worldwide -- launched the programme in 2007 in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and India-US Forum of Parliamentarians.
The programme is aimed at providing insight and perspective to young leaders by giving them the exposure of different fields and ideas.
"The India-Yale Parliamentary Leadership Program underscores Yale's longstanding commitment to educating our students for service and leadership. We have now gone a step further to include emerging and mid-career leaders," said the Yale President, Richard C Levin.
"The program will provide the parliamentarians with opportunities to critically think about the challenges of leadership and to explore freely, away from the legislative arena, the issues facing India," Levin said.

The topics covered in the 3rd India-Yale Parliamentary Leadership Program are: US Foreign Policy Toward Afghanistan-Pakistan; Religion and Politics; Economic Risks in the Global Economy; Poverty and Economic Development; India and Globalization; India in the Global Economy; India -China Economic Relations; Rule of Law and Governance in China.
Apart from this, topics like: Reform of Higher education in India; India's Priorities in the United Nations Framework; Climate Change and Energy Security in South Asia; Obama Administration and South Asia; Innovation and Economic Progress in Emerging Markets; US Response to the Global Financial Crisis; Negotiation and Strategy; Innovation; and Leadership Challenges, are also included.
The 1st and 2nd India - Yale Parliamentary Leadership Programmes were held in October 2007 and June 2008, respectively.
More than 30 MP's from India have participated in the programme till now, the university said in a statement.    PTI LKJ NSA 06191246 DELHI

Again novel way of wasting national funds for touring and nurturing politician children , which is of no good to the country or the society in general , this is good way of extracting money from countries like India to the American coffers who needs stipulation to their economey and our foolish leaders are ready to tour and waste time and money enjoying american culture and environment and buying gifts for their families and friends and the cost of Indian national funds allocated for better purpose, if at all the country needs to promote and spread knowledge it should go to poeple of character, principles and ethical and morally correct citizens which ever community or background they belong.

Hi guys, Let me introduce HDK to you clearly. HDK is one of the youngest chief ministers of India from an intellectual state. It is not a joke to rule Karnataka. He is one of the articulated chief ministers of India. He changed the fortune of Karnataka (not just Bangalore!) within short period of time. He put all his energy to make a difference for younger generation by losing his health. He was a model for younger generation to take the responsibility to make a difference. Karnataka people need younger leaders like HDK who has a bachelor’s degree and a dignified businessman prior to taking CM role. He is not oldies like a Yeddii who is not even completed his degree. In modern economy, color will not make any improvements, knowledge. Lot of people who have commented – please re-read your English and then comment on HDK’s English. Even though he comes from a farming community, he has better English than so called great other leaders (especially from north India).

That was good. I am glad that atleast there are some good people, who have understood what HDK has done. I totally agree with you. Mr HDK was very dynamic, smart, intelligent and an able young administartor. The real people in Karnataka knows what HDK is.

For him to be takenseriously as a leader, first he should keep his skin clean and learn to speak English. Otherwise he would be ashaming Karnataka people in places outside the state!! It is about time he shaped up. Yediveerappa is fine and fashionable looking gentleman.

Greatly appreciate HDK thoughts to gain knowledge thro international seminars and global economy issues. He should be the role model for many senior leaders in India...especially Bihar and UP who lack public relation and global knowledge.
