` 15 crore drinking water project to get nod soon
The drinking water project worth Rs 15 crore under multi village scheme to supply water to Neelavara and Thenkanidiyur will be sanctioned at the earliest, said Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Jagdish Shettar.
Speaking after inaugurating Suvarna Grama Yojane at Thenakanidiyur Gram Panchayat on Saturday, he said the proposal is being dicussed by the officials and is likely to get nod at the earliest. The government has given priority to drinking water problems. The government is spending crores of rupees for drinking water projects across the State.
A proposal will be sent to government on the drinking water projects at a cost of Rs 7.5 crore in Uppur Gram Panchayat area. The project will be useful for surrounding four villages. Neelavar project will provide drinking water to 10 villages. He said the Suvarna Gram Yojane comprises four phases covering as many as 3,000 villages.

The body has become non functional due to lack of power, he added. Home Minister Dr V S Acharya, Udupi-Chickmagalur MP D V Sadananda Gowda, were present.
