Tata Steel conferred Norwegian foundation honour for 3rd time

A company statement said the presentation ceremony, coinciding with the 151st birth anniversary year of the company’s first Chairman Sir Dorabji Tata, was held at the SNTI Auditorium at Jamshedpur.

The Director of Operations, DNV Business Assurance, N R Krishnakumar and Chief Auditor from DNV Prasun Kundu jointly presented the certificate to Managing Director, Tata Steel, H M Nerurkar, Tata Workers’ Union President Raghunath Pandey and Vice President (Corporate Services), Tata Steel and Chairman of the Managing Review Committee of SA-8000 Sanjiv Paul at the ceremony.

Tata Steel has gone through ''three cycles of certification'' in 2004, 2007 and now in 2010, the release here. Speaking on the occasion, Nerurkar congratulated the employees and the core team of SA-8000 for their endeavour to achieve this feat while cautioning that as the years would pass by, the norms to attain such certificates will become even more stringent.

He also dwelt on the need to carry forward the guidelines set by the first Chairman of the Company, Sir Dorabji Tata as early as in 1914.
