John Lennon's toilet sells for 9,500 pounds!
Believe it or not, a porcelain lavatory once used by John Lennon has fetched 9,500 pounds, nearly 10 times its guide price at an auction.
The English singer-songwriter, who rose to worldwide fame as one of the founding members of The Beatles, used the toilet for three years between 1969 and 1972 when he lived at Tittenhurst Park in Berkshire.
It was expected to sell for 1,000 pounds but an overseas investor paid 9,500 pounds for it at the 33rd annual Beatles Convention in Liverpool, British newspaper 'The Daily Telegraph' reported.
Stephen Bailey, a "Fab Four" expert and the auction's organiser, was quoted as saying, "It is unbelievable. We had bids coming in from all over the place but it went to a private overseas buyer."
The lot was part of a sale of Beatles memorabilia, including autographs, rare recordings of the group, and a harmonica owned by Lennon's son Julian.
