Academicians,litterateurs support ex-VC
Taking strong exception to allegations against former vice- chancellor of University of Mysore, Prof J Shashidhar Prasad, academicians and litterateurs belonging to Vokkaliga community have threatened to launch protest against the State government, if any action was initiated against ex-VC.
A few prominent academicians and litterateurs in a letter have suspected the involvement some vested interests to malign the image of ex-VC. They said it is condemnable. In fact, there are lots of allegations against vice- chancellors of other varsities too. But the government was only targeting Prof Shashidharprasad which indicates vengeance politics against vokkaliga community.
“ The community is strongly behind Prof Shashidharprasad”, they added.They also criticised incumbent VC, Prof V G Talawar for meeting ABVP activists for more than five hours and promising them to take action in the special Syndicate meeting. “ We do not like to view this issue from the caste angle or not interested to play caste politics. But we are ready for it if action is initiated against ex-VC”, they warned.
Those who have signed the letter said Prof G T Veerappa, Dr Ramakrishna, Boregowda Chikkamarali, Prof U N Shivannagowda, G S Shivarudrappa, Prof S B Shankargowda, Prof V K Krishnappa, Prof P Umadevi, District KSP president Dr H S Muddegowda, former KSP president H V Jayaram, H K Rajegowda, Karnataka Sangha president Prof Jayaprakashgowda, Linganna Bandukar, Arajunapuri Appajigowda, D P Swami, Govindaiah Koragala, Dr Krishnegowda Huskur and prof Ramegowda .
