Stick to non-violence, says Dalai Lama

Kushalnagar, September 2, DHNS:

‘Try to get back ‘China Occupied Tibet’ without resorting to violent means’

Tibetan spiritual head Dalai Lama has called upon Tibetans to stick to the path of non-violence during their war against Chinese anarchy in Tibet.

He said that Tibetans should try to get back ‘China Occupied Tibet’ without resorting to violent means.

Addressing the gathering during the last day of the national general meet and celebration of 50th year of internal democracy in India, at Tibetan refuge camp at Bylakuppe near Kushalnagar on Thursday, he said that the fight of Tibetans for freedom must go on within democratic and legal framework.

“Let us not lose hope. Let us work towards our dream of having autonomous Tibet. China is misusing media to kill our struggle for autonomous Tibet but we have been successful in making our voice heard at the international-level through the internet,” Dalai Lama said and lauded the Tibetan community living in India for safeguarding and nurturing their culture despite living away from their motherland.

He said that youth now have the responsibility of carrying forth the tradition, culture and rituals to the next generation.

Minister for Medical Education Ramachandra Gowda was present at the programme as a representative of the State government. “Government has provided all infrastructure in the Tibetan colony. Tibetan should leave their inferiority complex and come to the mainstreams,” said Gowda.

Tibetan Internal Democracy Prime Minister Prof Samdhong Rinpoche, MPs and MLAs took part in the programme.
