<p>The police have imposed restrictions on organisers planning to install Ganesha pandal at public places. <br /><br />The organisers have been mandated to follow certain norms till the Ganesha idol is immersed:<br /><br />Application process<br /><br />The organisers need to submit an application to the local police station furnishing details regarding time, date, place of installation of Ganesha and thoroughfares where procession will be taken out for immersion. The police inspector will forward the application along with a report to the assistant commissioner of police for grant of permission. The permission will be granted on condition that organisers will follow every directive given by the police till the idol is immersed. The police will not grant permission if there is a lot of public movement in the places identified by the organisers.<br /><br />Fire crackers <br /><br />The police will direct the organisers not to burst fire crackers. They will direct the organisers to use loud speakers only between 6 am and 10 pm and with less volume while granting the permission. <br /><br />The organisers need to give in writing details of high profile persons visiting the pandal to attend any cultural event or taking part in the immersion procession. <br /><br />It is mandatory for them to take no objection certificate from BBMP, Bescom, Fire Force and traffic police. The organisers are responsible for safety of all articles they use for the festival. The local police will identify routes to take out processions in sensitive and highly sensitive areas. <br /><br />The police will also tighten security in such areas and will prevent revellers from bursting fire crackers in those areas, especially near prayer halls. The local police will be present at least one hour before the processions begin. The police will ensure Ganesha idol immersion process gets over within 10 pm.<br /><br />The police will sternly deal with those trying to collect donations from public for celebrations. <br /><br />Workshop for kids tomorrow<br /><br />The Environment Support Group (ESG) has decided hold an workshop for children on September 5 in order to turn Ganesha festival an occasion to ponder over social and environmental issues as well. <br /><br />Aiming to create awareness among children on the traditional and historical significance and ways of celebrations, the ESG will take children through interesting stories, videos, skills of making clay idols, drawing ‘rangoli’ and stringing flowers. Besides, the workshop will also feature games to sensitise children to eco-friendly celebrations. The workshop will be held from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm at the ESG Office at 1572, 100 feet Outer Ring Road, Banashankari 2nd Stage. <br /></p>
