Paris Hilton's tweets to be used as evidence against her

Last Updated 04 September 2010, 04:48 IST

Hilton had told police that the bag she was carrying, which contained cocaine, belonged to a friend, but the socialite had tweeted a picture of the same bag last week, reported Radar Online.

The 29-year-old reality TV star had earlier tweeted a picture of the Chanel bag that allegedly contained the drug, along with the message, "Love my new Chanel purse I got today."

Hilton told the police that the bag belonged to a girlfriend and that she had mistaken the drug in it for chewing gum.

The tweet can effectively dismantle the defence for her recent drug arrest.
The website also published a photo from the night of the arrest, an out of focus image of Hilton carrying the purse. Radar claims that it is a Chanel, as evidenced by the distinctive interlocking Cs, and the clasp in the front of the bag.

Hilton was arrested in Las Vegas last Saturday after police found a cocaine in her bag after stopping the car in which she was a passenger.

She denied the cocaine allegedly found in her car in Las Vegas last night is hers. Which is the same defence she used when facing drug charges in South Africa last month.
She escaped punishment when a South African court dropped marijuana-smoking charges against her.

The hotel heiress was arrested when police claimed they found a local form of cannabis, known as 'dagga', in her handbag.
