Shocking incident
Sir,
The UP incident in which a daring woman police sub inspector was assaulted by three corrupt cops who were caught accepting bribes from truck drivers is a shocking news.It indicates how low and deep corruption has caught up with our public servants, especially police constables. They don't even bother for the repercussions of their act of daring daylight robbery in the form of money extortion from truck drivers . This indicates this menace is well established with the active blessings of the powers that be.Unfortunately, in this case a straight forward woman police personnel was caught up in the mess. It is high time some drastic treatment is thought of to eradicate this deep rotten disease prevailing in our public life.
Measures like insulation of Government functioning from politicians'interference; effectively teaching people to live by rules despite some discomforts;creating some welfare minded watch dog committees throughout the country to deal with this menace;arming forces like Lok Ayukta which is functioning in Karnataka with more powers;changing the service rules of public servants for instant punishment for dereliction in their duties especially involvement in corruption;quick disposal of corruption cases in courts etc. can be immediately thought of for implementation.

Indian wrestlers fail dope test.
Why not? Gone are the days when sports persons used to have doodh, dahi & ghee. Now we offer them Champagnes at so called SPORTS CLUBS! In Chandigarh alone every sports club is licensed to run a bar, none has Milk Bars! But then what the sports ministry can do in this regard: it is a state subject to issue bar licenses. I was told this by a senior ministry official once!

SC should draw a demarcation line
The learned judges of the Supreme Court appear to have stepped out of the boundaries of the dignified court hall by ordering the food ministry to distribute the food grains that are getting wasted, free to the poor and needy.
Honorable judges with all their well known wisdom should have known that one can take the horse to the water but cannot make it drink! Therefore, in all probability, judiciary may face embarrassment and helplessness if the executive wing stays put to the pronouncement of the judicial wing! The Supreme Court would do better if it maintains decorum, at a distance with a line clearly drawn, between the judiciary and executive. Otherwise, it may be sucked into to all kinds of mudslinging maneuvers of politics that breeds the executive more often than not!

No Congress without Gandhis?
Congress spokesperson Janardhan Dwivedi while angrily retorting to the BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad's suggestion that the Congress President should have the same term(of 2years)as district, state and block presidents of the Congress and when she could sacrifice the PM's post, she can very easily sacrifice her desire to be Congress president for the 4h time and allow a non Gandhi to be Congress president, has said 'why for 4 terms, Sonia would be elected the Congres President for the next 40 years also!.BJP has no right to question that'.
So he accepts that no Congresman other than Sonia or the Gandhi family is fit to be the Congress president for the next 40 years!.Such a party depending on Gandhis only for its survival, does not deserve to rule this country.

Congress an outfit of a family
Sonia Gandhi is all set to be re-elected as Congress president for the fourth time,a record unprecedented in its long history.Today, Congress party has become just an outfit of the Gandhi family and infact it looks as if it is an organisation owned by the Gandhi family. It is difficult to believe that it is the same party which was once presided by great people like Lokmanya Tilak,Mahatma Gandhi,or Subhash Bose .
Mahatma Gandhi had rightly advised that the Congress party should be wound up after achieving independence, lest it should capitalise on its contribution to the freedom movement. When one sees a Congress party meeting in the presence of Sonia Gandhi,it looks more like the Delhi Durbar days of the Viceroys, with the partymen bending over in utmost servility.
No other country suffers from this type of dynastic rule in a democratic setup. The families of great men like Churchill,Roosevelt,or Stalin have just disappeared from the political radar. It is high time that the Congress party becomes a democratic party and comes out of this dynastic syndrome.
