Gol Gumbaz gets CCTV surveillance
As part of security measures, CCTV cameras were today installed at the famous Gol Gumbaz, the tomb built by Adil Shahi rulers and a tourist attraction in Karnataka.
The seven CCTV cameras were installed under the supervision of the Archaeological Survey of India and has cost the state exchequer Rs 3.34 lakh. Thousands of tourists flock the architectural marvel where the tomb of Mohammed Adil Shah (1627-1657), one of the rulers of Bijapur, has been built.
The tomb's unique feature is its acoustic quality as a sound echoes seven times. Superintendent of Police Dr Rajappa inaugurated the facility at a function held here.
Adil Shahi or Adilshahi dynasty ruled from 1490 to 1686.
