Prez urged to approve Anti-Cow Slaughter Bill

Madikeri: Sept 6, DHNS:

BJP District Committee organised a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office here on Monday, urging President to give assent to the Anti-cow Slaughter Bill without any modifications.

BJP workers staging a protest urging the President of India Pratibha Patel to give assent to the Anti-Cow Slaughter Bill, in front of the DC’s Office in Madikeri on Monday. The protesters said that the BJP government at the state led by Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa has introduced the Bill considering the sentiments of the religious majority.
However, Governor H R Bharadwaj sent the Bill to the Rashtrapathi Bhavan, instead of approving it. “The President  should approve the Bill without recommending any changes in it,” protesters urged.

“The duty of a popular government is to rule the State without hurting the sentiments of the majority. The BJP government is ruling the State based on such policy. However, the Congress and JD(S) leaders are not in a position to tolerate the pro-people policies of the BJP government and are hence trying to find faults with the BJP with an intention to topple the government,” they criticised.

A memorandum was submitted to the President through Additional Deputy Commissioner K M Chandregowda. BJP District General Secretaries N M Kalappa, Kodi Ponnappa, Taluk Akrama-Sakrama Samiti President Shantheyanda Ravikushalappa, Town Municipality President P D Ponnappa, Madikeri Urban Development Authority President A K Palaksha and others were present.
