The actor was fined last week following a complaint filed by the Director of Health Services after he was found puffing cigarette at a public place during the shooting of his upcoming film "Golmaal 3", Goa police said.

"I have this (smoking) bad habit. I try to get rid of this habit. As you are asking about Goa thing, I do not want to discuss this but I would like to say that smoking was allowed in the place where I was doing that....," said the 41-year-old actor responding to a query pertaining to smoking and the fine he was slapped in Goa.

He was talking to media at the relaunch of the 'Jagrut Mumbaikar' campaign of Mumbai police yesterday, aimed at creating aware and alert citizens. Devgan is the brand ambassador of the drive.

Devgn, who was recently seen playing gangster Sultan Mirza in 'Once Upon A Time in Mumbai', had said he was proud to be part of the campaign and described Mumbai as one of the safest cities in the country.

"Because of the police, Mumbai is now one of the safest cities. We should co-operate with the police in all ways. By doing this we are helping ourselves. We should be alert and cooperate with the cops who can make Mumbai not only safest place in the country but also in the world," he said.
