Symposium on ‘ethos, ecology in DK’ on Sept 16
The post graduate department of Business Administration at St Aloysius Institute of Management and Information Technology (AIMIT) will be organising ‘Pragati 2010,’ a one-day symposium on “Ethos, business opportunities and ecology in Dakshina Kannada” at its campus near Kotekar-Beeri on September 16.
Informing the same to media persons at AIMIT premises on Saturday, St Aloysius College Vice Principal Fr Denzil Lobo said that every year the College conducts a one-day symposium on current issues of social concern for the benefit of students of various B-schools in and around Mangalore. This year Pragati would focus on a sensitive issue affecting the world over including our coastal belt, that is, “Environmental degradation in the wake of business opportunities,” he said.
The sessions to be covered in the symposium include “Environmental pollution and protection along the Mangalore Coast,” “Encouraging environmental sustainability in wake of industrial growth” and “Emerging eco trends in corporate social responsibility”. The sessions will be followed by a panel discussion on “Ethos, business opportunities and ecology in Dakshina Kannada.”
AIMIT Chairman Fr Ozwald Mascarenhas said the symposium is an effort in creating awareness on the inter-relationship among man, his culture and his bio-physical surroundings. It would throw light on an overall perspective and the social responsibility of the corporate giants in city to save the environment besides serving the nation.
