‘Say no to uncivil behaviour’
Launches new book in City
It all started when a former high-ranking woman police officer and an inspirational writer met each other a few months ago. The two shared their anguish over lack of civic sense in the society with each other.
After weeks of discussing the issue, former super cop Kiran Bedi and inspirational author Pavan Choudary decided to co-author a book on civil behaviour.
On Tuesday, the book Broom & Groom was unveiled at the Strand book stall in the city.
Stop indulging
It is time to stop indulging in uncivil behaviour like ogling at co-passengers in the elevator, over reading material or lap top screens of others, using towel or bed sheet to wipe their shoes during a hotel stay, said Kiran Bedi.
“The book is an expression of anguish and hope. Anguish over lack of civic sense in our society.
“Hope, because we believe that once we become aware and sensitive, change will follow,” noted Kiran Bedi, during the launch of her new book.
The co-author Pavan Choudary said, “Our leaders like Gandhiji campaigned for civility as well as cleanliness. He had warned our country men that Swaraj will stink, if we don't keep our backyards clean.”
Divided in to two sections, the book Broom & Groom gives practical tips on appropriate ways of greeting people, communication, eating, use of elevators and mobiles, rules for queues, road manners, interacting with domestic staff being a good teacher, a good student, a good government servant and also interacting with
foreigners.
