Man fakes unconsciousness to escape restaurant bills

Beijing, Sep 9 (PTI)

A 37-year-old Chinese man discovered a novel way to escape from paying restaurant bills. After eating in restaurants, the man surnamed Zhang used to pretend to slip into coma after which he would be rushed to hospitals from where he used to escape.

However, his bluff was caught a few days back when a hospital in the city's Wuhou district received a call for an ambulance from a nearby teahouse, saying that a man had collapsed just as he was about to pay his bills.

When he was brought to the hospital, the doctors immediately recognised Zhang, who had been hospitalised in the hospital earlier for diabetic treatment and had disappeared without paying his medical bills.

Interestingly, none of the eateries, where Zhang had run up bills worth several hundreds of yuan, had ever filed a police complaint, thinking that how can a well-dressed man like Zhang could be a fraud.
