60 drink sharbat, take ill

Dharwad, September 9, DHNS:

As many as 60 persons fell ill after drinking sharbat distributed during Pallakki procession at Mayur Extension at Anand Nagar in the city on Thursday.

Around 150 persons consumed sharbat during Danamma Devi Jathra at Mayur Extension and soon, some of them started vomiting. They were admitted to the Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) for treatment.

“Sharbat was prepared on Wednesday night itself, and some people started vomiting soon after consuming it,” said Anand Gayakwad, who was treated at the KIMS.
