 Speaking at health officials meeting here on Monday, he directed the officials to take all precautionary measures to check the spread of the diseases. A sum of Rs 10,000 has been released to 368 Grama Arogya mathu Nairmalya Samithi in the district. A total of Rs 36,80,000 has been released so far. A sum of Rs 25,000 (untied fund) has been released to all the primary health centres and all the community health centres will get untied fund of Rs 50,000.

The fund should be utilised for survey and emergency services, he added.
He said under Rashtriya Grameena Arogya Abhiyana, even taluk hospital will be given Rs 50,000 to provide emergency services. The rapid action team should provide a report on the diseases and diagnosis once in a week, he added.

“We are giving priority to control the diseases. Officials would be visiting houses to destroy the breeding grounds of mosquitoes. In affected areas, spraying will be undertaken in every house. Apart from this, fogging also will be undertaken. In Mangalore City Corporation limits, 50 teams have been constituted. There is a demand for 500 teams,” Shivashankar informed. 

Disease prone areas

Hirebandadi, Karaya, Bellipadi, Tekkaru, Saralikatte, Chikkamadanooru, Manchi, Bannur villages have been considered as contagious disease prone areas in the district. Samples of blood from 38 persons have been collected from this area, said DHO Dr Jagannath.

No death due to Dengue

DHO clarified that the death of Jecintha Rebello in Bolanthila was not due to Dengue.
In a separate press release, the standing Committee on Health and Education President Tilakraj has requested the people to ensure that there is no accumulation of water in waste tyres thrown in and around their houses, unused tins, buckets, or plastic containers, tender coconut shells, and ice-cream cups.

 The mosquito breeding centres in and around houses should be destroyed. Health officials will houses to create awareness on how to take precautionary and curative measures against the spreading of Malaria, Chikungunya, Dengue.

Citizens have been urged to  co-operate with the staff members visiting their houses, the release added.
