Sanjita was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Capital Hospital here after she allegedly consumed about 15 sleeping pills, Chief Medical Officer of the hospital Gangadhar Rath said.

''She is now out of danger and stable after being given immediate medical treatment. She is under close observation in the ICU of the hospital,'' he said.

The cause of the drastic step taken by the 24-year-old woman was yet to be ascertained, but people close to her felt that she was perhaps frustrated over little result from the battle she had been fighting to prove her claim that she was daughter of Dhali, also a former minister. Dhali had, however, refuted the allegation levelled by Sanjita and described it as false and baseless.

Sanjita had also approached the court last year seeking directive for conducting DNA to establish the fact besides moving Orissa State Human Rights Commission and State Commission for Women. The police, however, expressed ignorance about Sanjita's alleged suicide bid and said they had not received any information about it.
