At the meeting the problems faced by backward districts and efforts needed to boost development would be discussed, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa told reporters after chairing a meeting of officials and ministers in-charge of North Karnataka Districts here.

Earlier in his opening remarks at the meeting attended by officials of the seven districts -- Gulbarga, Yadgir, Bidar, Raichur, Koppal, Bellary and Bijapur -- he exorted them to draw up action plan for giving thrust to development programmes.

That the condition of roads was so pathetic in parts of Gulbarga was evident when he visited it during the recent bypoll in Gulbarga Dakshin constituency, he said.

Those officials who were unwilling to be posted in North Karnataka districts should quit, Yeddyurappa said referring to the reluctance among bucreacrats to work there.

This will be the third cabinet meeting being held by Yeddyurappa in Gulbarga.

The ruling BJP was defeated in the bye-election to Gulbarga South assembly constituency, where JDS candidate Aruna Patil, wife of late BJP MLA, Chandrasekhara Patil Revoor won.
