Four new 'food parks' approved for Karnataka

The food parks have been approved at Bagalkot, Jewargi, Hirriyur and Malur, an official statement said here.

Out of the total approved grant of Rs 16 crore, the amount released by the government till date is Rs 7 crore.

The southern state of Karnataka had three food parks previously.
Food parks are aimed at boosting high-tech infrastructure meant for agri or food processing sector along with value chain from farm to market that would help in attracting investment in food processing sector.

A total of 29 foodparks have been sanctioned all over the country so far.
