Union Minister of State for Planning M V Rajasekharan has said that the Centre will spend nearly 75 per cent of its total budgetary allocation for the 11th five year plan on important sectors such as rural development, agriculture, education and health.
Inaugurating a new hostel building for girls built by the State Veerashaiva Vidyabhivrudhi Samsthe at Rajajinagar on Tuesday, Rajasekharan said that the total outlay for the 11th five year plan was Rs 36 lakh crore.
Five-fold increase
While the outlay for the education would go up by five-fold, that for agriculture, health and rural development sectors would increase by three-fold. “Never in the past had the Centre allocated so much funds for these sectors”, he observed.

He said of the 105 crore population in the country, those below 35 years constituted majority.
Later speaking to media persons, Rajasekharan expressed confidence that the Centre would accord the classical language status to Kannada soon.
“Besides the expert committee report, the memorandum submitted by MPs from the State is before the Government of India. I sincerely hope that it would fulfil the demand very soon”, he observed.
Expressing his regret over the incident of assault on former Minister Mahadev by former Deputy Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Rajasekharan felt that both leaders should have exercised restraint.
All posts important
He would have a talk with Siddaramaiah in this regard. “All leaders in the party should amicably settle their differences. All posts in the party are equally important and every leader should be committed for building the party”, he observed.
Sri Shivakumar Swamiji of Siddaganga Mutt and Sri Murugharajendra Swamiji of Chitradurga Bruhanmutt graced the occasion. Former legislators V Somanna, S Suresh Kumar, N L Narendra Babu, former Minister Leeladevi R Prasad and Chairman of the Samsthe G S Paramashivaiah were present on the dais.
