Adhamya Chetana' which has been working among the underprivileged women and children is celebrating its 10th anniversary on December 30 and 31 at the National College Grounds in Basavanagudi. The programmes will be inaugurated by Governor Rameswar Thakur.
The organisation was started a decade ago in memory Girija Shastri with the aim of making women more independent.
The celebrations will span two days. Books written by children, entitled, “Dinakkondu puta", will be released on the occasion. Plays and music in Kannada have also been lined up. A blood donation camp is also on cards. However, the highlights will be a children’s cultural festival and folklore titled, “Sangeetha Lahari” by Archana Udupa, Padmini Sridhar. A Yakshagana at night should make the celebration a wholesome one. A puppet show by children, Mitra Ranga artists of the famous Janesh will perform folklore programmes, painters BKS Verma and Shashidhar Kote will perform the "Geetha Chitra". "Chiguru Chetana", a children's film song programme of “Ede Tumbi Haaduvenu,” are just some of the other highlights of the celebration. There will be several competitions of like Kannada speaking, Rangoli competition, fancy dress, equivalent of Kannada words in English, flower stringing competition, painting and drawing, Bhajans, monoacting, needle and thread, clay modelling and vegetable cutting.
