Senior Yakshagana artiste Kumble Sundar Rao will be felicitated for his great contribution towards Yakshagana, on Jan 19 at Town Hall by Chowta Prathishtana.

Addressing a news Conference on Wednesday, Parthishtana President D K Chowta said that on the occasion, ‘Sundara Kanda,’ a book comprising of glimpses of Mr Rao’s life and his memorable moments as an artiste, compiled under the editorship of litterateur Prof Amruth Someshwar will be offered to Kumble Sundar Rao.

Shree Kshethra Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade will felicitate Sundar Rao and confer the title ‘Yakshanugrahi’ on him at 6 pm.

Mr Chowta said that however the programme will be inaugurated by 10 am by  Karnataka Open University Mysore Vice-Chancellor Prof B A Vivek Rai while Karnataka Yakshagana and Janapada Academy President Keremane Shambu Hegde will release ‘Sundara Kanda’ under the presidentship of Endowment Commissioner T Shyam Bhat.

Mr Chowta informed that at 2.30 pm ‘Karnabhedana’ Talamaddale will be held in which Kumble Sundar Rao, M Prabhakar Joshi, Mudambailu Gopalkrishna Shastry and Uduvekodi Subbappaiah will participate.
