A three-year-old girl was allegedly ‘kidnapped’ from a Malleswaram apartment on Wednesday. However, it was later learnt the kidnapper was her father.
Police sources said around 3 pm, four people took her away from the apartment. The girl’s mother lodged a complaint with the police. When the police learnt that the kidnapper was her father, they interrogated him, during which they learnt the couple were living separately and were fighting a legal battle for the child’s custody.
Bank cheated of Rs 50 lakh
Three persons were arrested on charges of cheating the ING Vysya Bank to the tune of Rs 50 lakh. The three - Kumar (48), Krishnappa (52) and Prabhakar (48) - had taken a loan from the bank’s Avenue Road branch by producing fake documents. Upparpet police arrested them. They have been remanded to judicial custody.
The case was registered two years ago.
Krishnappa and Prabhakar are the main accused. Kumar is an account-holder, said a senior police official.
Cop in Lokayukta net
A CCB cop and five of his associates were trapped by Lokayukta on Wednesday. Sources said disgusted over the harassment meted out by CCB cops, a massage parlour alerted the Lokayukta sleuths and helped them lay a trap.
On Wednesday, a CCB cop and his team landed at the parlour demanding hafta. The Lokayukta sleuths, who lay in wait, caught the six.
Man jailed for dowry death
A dowry-monger who had allegedly abetted his wife for suicide was awarded seven years’ simple imprisonment by a court. A fast track court on Wednesday also fined Narasimha Murthy Rs 25,000. His wife Roopa had committed suicide by setting herself ablaze on December 7, 2006.
