Kanishk in third round

Kanishk Madan ousted second-seeded Shahid of Bangaldesh to advance to the third round of the 107th LG all-India Amateur Open golf tournament at the Chandigarh Golf Club here on Thursday. Kanishk who is seeded 15th, won with a convincing margin of four and three to set up a pre-quarterfinal clash with Mithun Perera, who quelled the challenge of Malaysian Edmund Jonathan by a similar margin.

In the other biggest upset of the day, Malaysian Mohammad Arie, seeded 32nd, showed top-seeded Jamal Mollah of Bangaldesh the door with a three and two victory to enter the pre-quarterfinals. He will clash with 16th seed Chi-Hsien Hsieh of Taipei, who was a one-up winner over Malaysian Haziz Hamizan.
