Underpass work picks up pace
DH News Service, Bangalore:
Placing pre-cast elements for underpass on T Chowdaiah Road began on Sunday evening...

Placing elements began as ground on one side of the work place dried up after BWSSB staff succeeded in stopping flow of water supply pipelines. Placing of 10 elements has begun.

Bruhat Bangalore Mahangar Palike contractors, who have taken up construction of the underpass, have to wait for one more day to place remaining 10 elements as half of the work site is still wet.

The Palike started the work on Thursday and as per the announced schedule the work would have been completed by Saturday morning. The work could not continue as water supply pipes opened and affected the work.

Palike commissioner Dr S Subramanya addressing the press on Saturday said 10 more days are needed to complete the work as the work cannot progress on the wet ground.

Placing elements is the major portion of the underpass work. After placing elements up and down ramps have to be asphalted. A senior officer of the Palike said that the work would be completed in two days provided there are no hassles.

AT BDA JUNCTION
BBMP Commissioner Dr S Subramanya has said the construction of underpass at BDA junction will be taken up soon after completion of underpass on T Chowdaiah Road.

Work at BDA junction is expected to throw movement of traffic towards north of the city out of gear. Traffic police have said heavy vehicles moving towards the city from Mekhri Circle will be diverted towards Jayamahal. Two wheelers and light motor vehicles are allowed till Kaveri junction, where they will have to take right turn towards Bhashyam Circle. Similarly traffic from Malleshwaram 18th cross and Sadashivanagar area will be diverted at Bhashyam Circle towards Vayalikaval.

However, the traffic police have not come out with a plan to divert vehicles moving towards Mekhri Circle from Windsor Manor bridge. Traffic ACP (East) Eshwar Prasad said the diversion of traffic will be decided only after the present work is completed. “We will discuss with the Palike authorities and finalise how to manage traffic when the work is taken up at BDA junction,” he said.

Dear Dr Subramanya and the team,
Great Work, don't be de-moralized by the pessimistic comments from people. You are initiating a great process of work. This method is going to change the work process over all. Every work will have its own uncertainties beyond control. Yes it is unfortunate that people around the area had many problems. For better Bangalore,a little trouble for a short period should be accepted. Take up more such work and help Bangalore to make a better place to Live.
