Rs 11 cr released under employment guarantee scheme: ZP CEO
DH News Service, Madikeri:

CEO K R Sundar expressed his unhappiness over the unsatisfactory progress of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme and advised the Executive Officers of all the three taluks to take keen interest in the project.

At the KDP meeting held on Monday under the presidentship of ZP President Dheergakeshi Shivanna at Kote Hale Vidhana Sanbhangana, he said that a sum of Rs 9 crore has been released for the district under the scheme and more than Rs 2 crore has been released for the three taluks each.

Apart from this, approval has been given to the works of about Rs 10 lakh but unfortunately even minimum progress could not be achieved in this regard. He said that an action plan of Rs 26 crore has been chalked out and at present there is no dearth of funds at all but the amount will be released only when 60 per cent of the works will be completed.

Kannada Jagruti Samiti President T P Ramesh said that the power cuts in the district are same irrespective of whether it is rainy or summer season. He said that since there are power cuts in the evenings, students are facing lot of problems as their examinations are approaching soon. Responding to this President assured to hold a discussion with authorities concerned in this regard.

Department of Horticulture Deputy Director H R Nayak said that a people’s representatives meet under the presidentship of ZP chief will be held soon to review the National Horticulture Mission projects.

Manteswamy said that rice and Kerosene oil will be distributed to those who have been given new cards. President also asked the nodal officers to make a enquiry and submit a report on the alleged misappropriations in the ‘Matsyashraya’ project of the Fisheries Department.
