Congress issues notice
DH News Service, Shidlaghatta:

District Congress Committee President Bisegowda has issued notices against former Taluk Panchayat vice-president Shiva Reddy and D P Nagaraj for their alleged anti-party activities, and asked them for an explanation.
The notices have been issued following reports that Shiva Reddy and Nagaraj had held a press conference where they stated that former minister V Muniyappa had behaved irresponsibly, said Block Congress President Munikrishnappa and Jangamakoti Block Congress President Ramakrishnappa, in a joint press conference here on Tuesday.

Baseless  allegations
There was no basis to the allegations levelled by Shiva Reddy and Nagaraj. For the last 23 years, former minister Muniyappa has been working towards strengthening the party, and his hard work has paved the way for the party’s victory during the polls. In such a context, allegations that Muniyappa had been irresponsible in the party organisation is baseless, they said.

Muniyappa has built Congress Bhavans all over the district. In spite of losing the last Vidhana Sabha polls, he has worked towards the victory of Congress candidates in all subsequent elections, contributing largely towards K Gudiyapppa’s election as director of the Kolar Milk Federation.

Among the 30 Gram Panchayat seats in the constituency limits, he has ensured the success of 19 candidates; of the nine directors of the PLD Bank, five are from the Congress; the party has won seats in all five constituencies during the Zilla Panchayat elections, and a majority of the Taluk Panchayat members are Congress candidates. Shiva Reddy, who has left the taluk to live in Bangalore, is levelling baseless allegations against such a person.
If Muniyappa had behaved responsibly and not worked towards strengthening the party, how could the Congress have achieved such results, they questioned.

Replying to a question, Munikrishnappa and Ramakrishnappa said that Raghunatha Reddy did not even have a primary membership of the party, and in such a case, the party cannot really take disciplinary action against him. They also said that they had no objection to former legislator S Munishamappa, who is now part of the M P Prakash faction, joining the Congress.

Collective protest
Any person willing to work for the party without desire for power is welcome. If he tries to get a ticket for the next elections, then there will be a collective protest, they warned.

Taluk Panchayat
President Moula, member Muniraju, Gram Panchayat president Nagaraju, TMC member Narayana, Anand, Pump Nagaraju, Lokesh, Madhu, Rajkumar and others were also present in the press  conference.
