There is good news for writers and translators working in both Hindi and English. Now they can find a ready reference in the new Samantar Kosh - the thesaurus in English-Hindi, and Hindi-English authored by noted lexicographer Arvind Kumar and his wife Kusum Kumar.
The three volume dictionary and thesaurus published by Penguin India was launched on Monday.
The Samantar Kosh, a step ahead of the Kumar couple’s Hindi thesaurus is likely to be the ultimate translators’ tool. It provides references, short indicative definitions and nuances of words in both the languages.
The thesaurus aims to be not only a repertory of synonyms and antonyms in both the languages, but to also serve as a cross-cultural handbook.
