Raghavendra wins title
V Raghavendra emerged champion in the open category event of the C V Raman Chess club’s monthly chess tournament at the KLN Art Gallery on Sunday.

Final standings:

Open category: V Raghavendra 1; R Nagesh 2; Prahlad P 3; Sudhakar 4; Shamsundar H S 5. Under-14: Vikas 1; Mahesh 2; S Pramod 3; Shreyas U 4; Shreshta B R 5. Punjabi pockets bowling title
National champion Vijay Punjabi triumphed in the Karnataka State Tenpin Bowling Association tenpin bowling tournament, its first event of the calendar year.

Madhusudhan Bhat finished third edging out Girish Gaba by eight pins.

Results: Final: Vijay Punjabi: 399 (208, 191) bt Sethu Madhavan: 319 (159, 160).

Semifinals: Sethu Madhavan: 364 (181, 183) bt Girish Gaba: 334 (153, 181); Vijay Punjabi: 395 (213, 182) bt Madhusudhan Bhat: 342 (167, 175).

State Games shooting meet
Karnataka State Rifle Association will conduct shooting event as part of the State Games from February 6 to 8 at its ranges in Sports Authority of India campus.

The competition is open to association members, district associations, clubs, civilian rifle training certificate holders and NCC cadets. Entry forms are available at the association’s administrative office,  I phase, JP Nagar.
The last date for entry is February 1.

Corporate cricket meet in February
Sports Promotion Group will conduct a corporate cricket tournament from February 9 to 17 in Bangalore.

Thamarai, IISc play out draw
Thamaraikannan and Indian Institute of Science played out a 1-1 draw in the BDFA ‘C’ Division football league at the IISc grounds on Tuesday. For Thamaraikannan, Vinod Kumar scored in the 15th minute, while Harsh Raj equalised for IISc in the 23rd minute.

Prem wins Golf Rolling Trophy
Peter Prem was adjudged the overall winner and awarded the Catholic Club Golf Rolling Trophy in the Catholic Club & KGA inter-fellowship golf meet  at the Karnataka Golf Course.

Winners: Catholic Club  golfers:

I Division: Peter Prem. II Division: Arthur D'Silva. III Division: Aloysius Fernandez. Guest Golfers (Well wishers): I Division: George Chandy II Division: Danalakshmi Rice. III Division: Sanjay Rao.

*Correction: Dhruva Kumar had won the tennis title and not as reported in these columns on Tuesday.
