Looking good is everyone’s prerogative, irrespective of age or gender. As such the market is abuzz with a slew of product launches all of which emphasise that looking good is in. Here’s a quick check of the best and the latest.

The Lakmé summer range has lip colours in enriching sheers and shines. The eye palette is spectacular with eight high intensity colours spread across three quartets. Tropical Island – the season’s collection by designer Wendell Rodricks has a palette rich with inspiration from elemental Nature. With lashings of island flavours like watermelon, tangerine, grape, mango, juicy green sap and tarragon and treated with transparencies and sheers, a near natural look is assured. The Tropical Island looks were created by South African make–up artist Brendon. “Ethno-chic, tropical meets urban; Goa comes alive in the heart of Mumbai – that was my inspiration for these looks. I have created something subtle yet glam, fresh yet mysterious. My Lakmé woman is someone who is very expressive and creative – not just with make–up and colours but generally in her way of living. She is doer and makes things happen with certain flair,” he says.

Going natural

Like with everything else, when you can’t seem to figure out what’s right, go natural. As monsoon and summers collectively are the most difficult seasons to keep up with your sparkling best the solution is to keep your make-up minimal, deep cleansed and sun safe. 

Season’s trends

* Thick lush brows, well shaped but with a touch of the natural is in and the heavily plucked thin brow is out.
* If it’s a day look, pink is considered to be the new black of the season. Sexy yet very fresh, follow this with brown to match the skin tan.
* Peach look is also great for this season. Add a bit of extra gold or brown.
* Use body gel to get the right shimmer
* Hot colours for your eyes are yellow, peach, orange, brown, green and chill out blues. Blend deep navy eye shadow with red lip paint for that hot look.
* The Marilyn Monroe look is also in.  Red lips and heavy black lashes outlined with black liquid eyeliner.
