If you are a saree-lover and have always longed for designer sarees at an affordable price, then this is a collection you should not miss. Young designer Deepika Subhash certainly knows her job and the demands of the people well as she presents an exotic collection of sarees with an array of new patterns and bright colours.

Bangalore-based Deepika, who has been in the industry for over two years now reveals the unique feature of these sarees — “I have tried to strike a chord between Indian and Western wear as the sarees are conservative yet contemporary, traditional yet modern.” One thing that catches the attention is the use of unique fabrics and accessories such as Japanese beads, velvet and even leather. She reveals that she has worked on the ordinary things available in the market to make them look extraordinary. “I am very particular about the finish and have taken great care to ensure that none of these materials chip off despite regular usage. I have been very choosy about the size of the beads as well,” adds she.

The designer has also used natural colours like green, blue and yellow to appeal to the young masses. The different styles of design such as batik and kalamkari enhance the beauty of these sarees.

 “These can be used for special occasions as well as daily wear,” opines she. These sarees are available in a range of materials such as chiffon, crepe, cotton and georgette.

The winner of Pret Wear Award from JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Deepika has exhibited in the City before. “The response is always positive here,” says she. The prices of these sarees range anywhere between Rs 1,500  and Rs 8,000. She will be showcasing her collection till July 20 from 10 am to 8 pm at Shop No 12A, Ground floor, Safina Plaza.
