While the number of Bangalore-based bands are on the rise, the City witnessed the presence of emerging rockstars of Mumbai recently. After many live shows there, Paper Clip Aeroplane and The Hollow Bodies made their way down South and performed in this City for the first time.
The six-piece rock and roll band, Paper Clip Aeroplane covers AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Arctic Monkeys, The Who, Wolfmother, The Beatles, Jet, Alice In Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, Audioslave and has many new
compositions too. They not only got the listeners grooving to old numbers but also swept them off their feet with their close-to-the- original numbers.
The band comprises Chris and Eden (vocals), Jason (guitar), Suraj (bass) and Jeremy (drums). Joker and
the Thief and Maroon 5 did wonders for the mood of the place and took the audience back to the time when they heard the song first.
The Hollow Bodies did a duo with Rohan Mazumdar and Bradley Tellis. They had played at the launch of the ‘Rolling Stone’ magazine in Mumbai.
The trio play a lot of alternative rock and do their regular acoustic gigs at various venues around Mumbai including Blue Frog. Own compositions and some old gigs are what they specialise in. They love covering tunes from artists like Dave Matthews band, Jason Mraz and Jack Johnson.
While the audience settled for nothing less than the best and swung to the numbers, Marc said, “The night was fun because it was a combination of old numbers that all of us enjoy and the new compositions spiced up the mood.”
The band was well-appreciated although the tempo went a bit low somewhere in the middle, which they soon caught up with.
