Fast and the furious
Arnab Gupta

This City is racing on the fast lane. Keep your seatbelts fastened because in 2010 Bangalore just might have a racing cart.  But the Formula1 fever has already begun here with a racing car making a stop at the Bangalore International Airport . And that is none other than the fastest of them all, the Mercedes Mclaren MP4 23. The one that is going to race on Singapore Formula 1 racing cart this year. Now on display at the Bangalore International Airport, it provides a larger-than-life view not just to the passengers, but the public as well.

The car has been put on display by Johnnie Walker for the first time as part of their promotional campaign in Bangalore to reiterate how important a market Bangalore is. It is stationed at the the tax and duty free outlet operated by Nuance Group India.  BIA has been identified as a perfect place for a captive audience by premium international and local brands.

The car will be there a few days after which it would shift to the Rajiv Gandhi Hyderabad International Airport. It  will leave the country by  September 7.  Unveiling the car, Ray Martins, Director — Travel Retail and Reserve On-Premise, Diageo India, said, “Formula 1, the world over, represents an evolved and contemporary lifestyle, the epitome of technology, fashion, parties and glamour. “The promotion offers a unique opportunity for duty-free shoppers and F1 enthusiasts to experience the first night race ever at the Singapore Grand Prix by giving them a chance to win an all expenses paid package.

As a part of the responsible drinking, consumers can sign on a pledge board and ‘Join the Pact’ with Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton to ‘Never Drink and Drive’. To add more feathers to BIA’s cap, the airport will be profiled in the next issue of ‘The Moodie Report Digital Print Edition’ – out in September – which focuses on the booming travel retail markets of Turkey, Russia, India and China.

Well, if you have not seen Mercedes Mclaren MP4 23 yet, you can go admire it. And watch it again at  the Singapore Formula1 Race scheduled to begin in September.
