When there is severe shortage of drinking water in many taluks due to paucity of rains, the CM is offering beer. When there is unscheduled load shedding, the CM is promising free power supply to irrigation pump sets. The budgetary allocation for irrigation sector has come down to 13.37 per cent from last year's 17.69 per cent and still he claims he is pro-farmer.
These were the points raised by Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge in the Legislative Assembly on Friday while reacting sharply to the revised budget proposals of Yeddyurappa. The Congress leader dubbed the budget document as a hollow which is prepared keeping the coming elections to the Loka Sabha in view, he ridiculed.
Kharge alleged that in the last two budgets presented by Yeddyurappa a total of 300 promises were made to the people. But hardly 70 to 80 have been implemented.
No vision: Siddu
While interacting with media, Congress leader Siddaramaiah said the budget lacked long-term vision and had no measures for asset creation. Siddaramaiah, who has presented seven budgets in the Assembly said, “A budget should aim for lifting the economic status of people, improve their lifestyle and give emphasis on education and asset creation. However, all these aspects have been given a go by in Yeddyurappa’s budget.”
